Preparing to Detain “Sor. Korn” Amid Potential Banditry Charges

Songkhla: Police have not yet taken 'Sor. Korn' and his subordinates to be detained for the first time. They need to be questioned further and may also press additional charges of being a bandit. They are confident that they will not escape.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident involves Mr. Siradanai Phlaiduang, also known as Provincial Administrative Organization Member Golf, from District 7, Songkhla Province. He is the son of a Songkhla MP and is alleged to have sent his men to attack Pol. Lt. Nisathi Kongthep, a Border Patrol Police officer. The attack happened because Golf was unhappy about being prohibited from taking photos at a polling station during voting. An arrest warrant was issued, and he turned himself in on May 12, while the other six men have all been arrested. Currently, all seven men are being held in the detention cell at Mueang Songkhla Police Station as investigators collect evidence to present in court.

Today, some suspects might be brought out for additional questioning, and further charges, such as banditry, could be filed since more than five people were involved in the crime. Authorities have substantial evidence, including witnesses, CCTV footage, and mobile phone records showing chats between Golf and his subordinates. This evidence strengthens the belief that escape is unlikely for the accused.

During a search of seven targeted houses yesterday, including those of Golf and his subordinates, officers seized various pieces of evidence. Notably, at Mr. Jakraphong Thepchum's house in Hat Yai District, clothing and shoes allegedly used in the crime were found and seized for examination.
