Bangkok: The Prime Minister revealed that he has received a report from the Police Chief regarding the incident of a Chinese man transporting weapons of war. Anutin Charnvirakul highlighted the necessity for a comprehensive investigation to uncover all parties involved and to ascertain if there is a connection to transnational organized crime. He urged for time to be given to the police and security forces to conduct a detailed investigation, following allegations linking the incident to BHQ (Bangkok Metropolitan Police Headquarters).
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul commented on the case at Na Chom Thian Police Station in Chonburi province where police investigated a car accident involving a Chinese male driver. The investigation led to the discovery of a substantial amount of weapons and explosives. He mentioned that he received a preliminary report from the National Police Chief shortly after the incident and stressed the importance of a thorough investigation to identify the root cause and address the issue rigorously.
The Prime Minister stated, "This is another issue as to why foreigners can possess weapons. I've already emphasized that there are no longer permits for carrying guns or any other firearms. Nowadays, anyone who isn't an official and carries a firearm is breaking the law. Be careful, because if you get caught, there will be many other charges."
He further added that reports have been received, and if the case involves or is connected to any individuals or groups, whether Thai citizens or transnational criminal networks, they will take comprehensive action.
Upon inquiry about the majority of the weapons found, which were categorized as weapons of war, and the potential links through mobile phone searches to the BHQ group, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for decisive and urgent action. He noted the implications related to the free visa issue and other matters, requesting a meticulous investigation by the police and security forces to gather the most detailed information possible.
