Minister Suchart Advocates Low-Carbon Economy to Elevate Thai Business Standards

Bangkok: A low-carbon future encourages the private sector to upgrade Thai businesses to world standards. Minister Suchart opens a forum on low-carbon future cooperation, supporting the private sector to upgrade Thai businesses to world-class standards. Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, presided over the opening ceremony of the "Low-Carbon Future" cooperation event and presented his vision for driving Thailand towards a concrete low-carbon economy. He emphasized the importance of the combined efforts of the private and public sectors to accelerate the development of product value chains to address the global challenges of low-carbon trade, with full support from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. This aims to enhance Thailand's capabilities as an international business leader and create tangible jobs and income for local communities.

According to Thai News Agency, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment stated that businesses are currently facing pressure from climate change, international trade regulations, and stricter environmental standards, as well as increasing expectations for sustainability in the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) dimensions. Therefore, the transition to a low-carbon economy is not just an "option" but a "necessity" that will shape the long-term growth future of the business sector.

Thailand has tremendous potential to drive the transition to a low-carbon society, leveraging government support to gain a competitive advantage through the accelerated enforcement of the Climate Change Act. This Act will systematically integrate policy mechanisms, technology, finance, and business cooperation to achieve tangible results at all levels. On this occasion, the Minister congratulated Thai Eastern Group Holdings Public Company Limited on its success in developing the "world's first carbon-neutral rubber block," a significant step for the Thai rubber industry on the global stage and reflecting the potential of the Thai industry to elevate to international sustainability standards.

We commend Thai Eastern Bio Power Public Company Limited for developing a comprehensive national waste management hub, aligning with the Circular Economy concept and significantly contributing to a tangible reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. We also express our appreciation to all business partners across all sectors for continuously driving development towards a low-carbon future. We are confident that this event will be the starting point for strong collaboration and lead to concrete improvements in Thailand's low-carbon value chain.

"May this collaboration be successful and can be further developed towards the sustainable development of the country's low-carbon economy."
