Nakhon pathom: The Prime Minister presided over a ceremony to chant Buddhist prayers and offer alms to monks in honor of His Majesty King Rama VI on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his death, and to offer royal merit to Her Royal Highness Princess Bejaratana Rajasuda Siri Sobhaphannavadi on the occasion of her 100th birthday. Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, led the event held at Wat Phra Pathom Chedi, attended by key governmental figures and officials.
According to Thai News Agency, the ceremony included a series of traditional Buddhist practices aimed at paying homage to both royal figures. Upon arrival, the Prime Minister took his seat as ten monks initiated the chanting of Buddhist prayers. The Prime Minister participated in lighting incense and candles to honor the portraits of His Majesty King Rama VI and Princess Bejaratana Rajasuda, followed by offering Thai offerings and robes to the monks.
The alms-giving ceremony was attended by prominent figures such as the Cabinet, the President of the Supreme Administrative Court, and other high-ranking officials. The Prime Minister also participated in a wreath-laying ceremony to further honor the contributions of the King and Princess to Thailand.
King Rama VI is remembered for his contributions to governance, public health, and cultural activities in Thailand, while Princess Bejaratana Rajasuda is recognized for her support of educational and social initiatives. The ceremony served as a tribute to their lasting impact on the nation.
