Prime Minister Leads Buddhist Ceremony for Queen Sirikit’s Birthday

Bangkok: The Prime Minister presided over a Buddhist ceremony to chant prayers and offer alms in honor of His Majesty the King. The Prime Minister and his spouse led the Buddhist chanting and alms-giving ceremony in honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit's 4th cycle birthday anniversary on June 3, 2026.

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, along with his spouse, Mrs. Thanon Charnvirakul, oversaw the ceremony at Sanam Luang. Upon their arrival at the ceremonial pavilion, ten senior monks took their seats. The Prime Minister performed traditional rituals, including lighting incense and candles to pay homage to the Triple Gem, before offering them in front of Her Majesty the Queen's portrait. Officials then recited precepts administered by the monks, followed by the chanting of Buddhist prayers.

The ceremony continued with the Prime Minister and his spouse, alongside other high-ranking officials such as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and the President of the Senate, offering robes and other offerings to the monks. The Prime Minister performed a symbolic act of pouring water to receive blessings, followed by bowing before the Triple Gem and paying respects to the Queen's portrait.

Finally, the Prime Minister and his spouse led the offering of alms to 149 monks. The ceremony concluded with the Prime Minister and his spouse signing a book of well wishes for Her Majesty the Queen at the Grand Palace's Red Room, Building 904.
