Bangkok: The private sector is emphasizing the need for the swift formation of a new government, urging the inclusion of competent individuals who can promptly restore economic confidence. Mr. Poj Aramwattananon, Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Thai Chambers of Commerce, expressed satisfaction with the smooth conclusion of the recent election, highlighting it as a reflection of Thailand's advancing democratic system and the unified efforts of all sectors in progressing the nation.
According to Thai News Agency, the private sector and the public are eagerly awaiting the official certification of the election results from the Election Commission. This certification is crucial for the expeditious formation of a government, as Thailand faces multiple challenges, including global economic pressures, geopolitical and geoeconomic tensions, and border issues. The establishment of economic confidence among both domestic and international investors is deemed essential.
Mr. Poj emphasized the urgency of forming the government and cabinet to avoid disruptions in budget allocations, public investments, and economic stimulus measures. He stressed that the political party with the majority should quickly consolidate support to ensure political stability and articulate clear governance objectives.
Additionally, Mr. Poj highlighted the importance of appointing qualified individuals to key ministries, such as the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Commerce, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He advocated for the selection of individuals who are well-versed in their respective fields and can begin work without delay. The inclusion of coalition parties with aligned goals is also recommended to establish a cohesive and stable government capable of effectively leading the country forward.
