Nonthaburi, The Ministry of Digital Economy warns citizens to register for ‘digital wallets’ only through ‘government apps’ and not to be fooled by ‘online thieves’ who send fake links.
Mr. Prasert Jantararuangthong, Minister of Digital Economy and Society (DE), revealed that on July 24, 2024, the government, through the Ministry of Finance, officially announced the registration of citizens for the 10,000 baht top-up project via Digital Wallet. The official registration for the project will be opened on schedule from August 1, 2024 onwards. The registrants are divided into 3 groups:
1. Citizens with smartphones, registration starts from August 1 to September 15, 2024.
2. Citizens without smartphones, registration starts from September 16 to October 15, 2024.
3. Stores, registration will initially open from October 1, 2024 onwards.
Digital money will be available for purchase in the fourth quarter of 2024.
The qualifications of the people participating in the project are as follows:
Thai nationality, wi
th name and address in house registration
Age 16 years and over as of the registration closing date (15 September 2024)
Have an income not exceeding 840,000 baht/year (according to tax year 2023)
Deposits with commercial banks and specialized financial institutions totaling no more than 500,000 baht are deposits as of March 31, 2024.
Not being a person who is currently serving a prison sentence
Not being a person whose rights have been suspended or whose refund has been requested in other government measures/projects
Not violating the conditions of other government measures/projects
In this regard, people with smartphones can do so through the ‘Tang Rat’ application without any limitations. The government estimates that 45-50 million people will join the project. At the same time, people can download the ‘Tang Rat’ application, register to confirm their identity, and apply for the application in advance for convenience and speed before registering to join the Digital Wallet project on August 1, 2024. he ‘Tang Rat’ application can be downloaded directly from the ‘App Store’ application for iOS and the ‘Google Play’ application for Android on smartphones.
