Renowned Cinematographer Chatchai Nakasuriya Passes Away After Battle with Alzheimer’s

Bangkok: The entertainment industry is mourning the loss of the esteemed cinematographer Chatchai Nakasuriya, who passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, after a prolonged battle with Alzheimer's disease.

According to Thai News Agency, Chatchai Nakasuriya was a prominent figure in the film industry, having contributed to many popular dramas. His notable works include serving as a cinematographer for Soi Saeng Chan, Nirat Song Phop, and Phrai Pratthana. He also directed the drama Insee Daeng in its 1997 version featuring James Ruangsak.

The religious ceremony for Chatchai will be held at Wat Anongkharam Worawihan (Sala 1). The funeral ceremony is scheduled for March 18, 2026, with funeral rites continuing until March 20. The cremation ceremony will take place on March 22, 2026.

Miew Pawanrat, Chatchai's sister, announced the news of her brother's passing, expressing the family's grief and confirming that he passed away in the afternoon. The industry remembers Chatchai for his significant contributions and mourns the loss of a talented artist.
