Rome Unveils House Motion Documents on Airport Railway Study

Bangkok: “Rome” has revealed documents from a House motion requesting the establishment of a committee to examine the railway project connecting three airports. The documents prominently feature the name “Charoen Pokphand,” with “Rome” asserting that “Wan Nor” proposed the motion himself, raising questions about whether he “forgot” or “intentionally lied.” The discussion highlights that the House has frequently mentioned outsiders, with a suggestion to recall actions from 2019, confirming the principle that the “opposition” can include “Thaksin.”

According to Thai News Agency, Rangsiman Rome, an MP for the party list and deputy leader of the Prachachon Party, posted an urgent motion document on Facebook. The document requests the House to set up a special committee to assess the impact of constructing a high-speed rail connecting three airports, with a specific mention of Charoen Pokphand Holding Company Limited.

Mr. Rangsiman highlighted that he had listened to Professor Wan Nor, the Speaker of the House, during an interview on Mr. Sorayuth’s program. Professor Wan Nor had stated, ‘I have been in the House for 44 years and have never seen any resolution that has an outsider’s name and has stayed.’ Mr. Rangsiman questioned whether Professor Wan Nor ‘forgot’ or intentionally ‘lied,’ as the House has mentioned outsiders on multiple occasions. He cited a previous resolution involving political activists to demonstrate the precedent of mentioning outsiders in resolutions.

Mr. Rangsiman proposed that Professor Wan Nor’s motion to establish a committee for studying the three-airport railway clearly implicated an outsider, Charoen Pokphand Holding Company Limited. This motion, supported by Mr. Chuan Leekpai, the then Speaker of the House, highlighted several impacts. Mr. Rangsiman argued that if this standard were to apply, the current opposition party’s no-confidence motion, which includes Mr. Thaksin as a factual statement regarding his influence behind Ms. Ung Ing, is permissible.

Mr. Rangsiman urged Professor Wan Nor to recall his actions from 2019 before claiming a lack of motions involving outsiders in his 44-year tenure. He expressed confusion over Professor Wan Nor’s statements during the Sorayuth program interview but reaffirmed that including Thaksin’s name in the opposition’s no-confidence motion is permissible and not prohibited by law. He added that citing negligence does not grant the chairman the authority to decide on the inclusion of an outsider’s name.
