Bangkok: The Prime Minister led a significant meeting of the Economic Stimulus Project Policy Committee, approving Phase 3 of the digital money distribution aimed at providing 10,000 baht to citizens aged 16-20 in the second quarter.
According to Thai News Agency, the meeting was chaired by Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the Prime Minister, and attended by key figures such as Mr. Phumtham Vejjayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Mr. Pichai Chunhavajira, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Mr. Prasert Chantarawongthong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Economy and Society, Mr. Pichai Naripthaphan, Minister of Commerce, and Mr. Sethaput Suthiwatanaruput, Governor of the Bank of Thailand. The focus was to deliberate on distributing digital wallet money for registered individuals via a government application.
Upon commencing the meeting, the Prime Minister highlighted the positive economic growth seen over the past year and emphasized the importance of exports and tourism. The Ministry of Finance has projected a 3 percent economic growth rate for Thailand in 2025. However, the government is optimistic that collaborative efforts from all ministries and the private sector could exceed this growth target.
The meeting was convened to explore economic stimulus projects compliant with relevant laws, aiming to drive economic expansion beyond 3 percent and address long-term structural economic issues. The Prime Minister urged all participants to work closely together to advance these projects.
