Bangkok: Their Majesties the King and Queen performed religious ceremonies on the 50th day after the passing of His Majesty the King. His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen attended the royal ceremony to offer merit on the 50th day after the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother.
According to Thai News Agency, on December 12, 2025, at 5:04 PM, Their Majesties, accompanied by His Royal Highness Prince Dipangkorn Rasmijoti and Chao Khun Phra Sineenath Pilaskalyani, proceeded to Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall in the Grand Palace. The ceremony was attended by members of the royal family, including Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Walailak, and others, as they received His Majesty.
His Majesty the King laid a wreath in front of the royal urn containing the remains of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. The ceremony included lighting incense and candles at altars and a Buddha image commemorating the Queen Mother's birth anniversary. Thirty monks chanted Buddhist prayers, which concluded with a blessing and farewell.
Further religious rites were conducted by His Majesty, including reading a royal sermon and participating in the Dharma ceremony. The king received a sermon entitled "Natha Katha" from Phra Phrom Bandit, the abbot of Wat Prayurawongsawas. Offerings and gifts were presented to the monks, who then performed the funeral rites and offered their blessings.
His Majesty also paid respects at the altar and the royal coffin, where monks chanted Abhidhamma prayers. Eight monks from Wat Anongkaram and Wat Rajsitharam participated in the chanting.
In commemoration, His Majesty the King graciously bestowed a set of five books to those attending the ceremony. These books cover various aspects of the royal lineage, royal trips, traditional textiles, fine arts, and the history of the Siamese Red Cross Society.
