Trump Pledges More Tax Reductions for Thailand Compared to Other Nations

Bangkok: The Prime Minister of Thailand, Anutin Charnvirakul, recently disclosed that US President Donald Trump has committed to reducing taxes for Thailand more than for any other country. This revelation came during a press briefing where the Prime Minister elaborated on his discussions with President Trump, which also covered the topic of tariffs.

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who also serves as the Minister of Interior, mentioned that during their talks, President Trump assured him of a promising future for Thailand with respect to tariff reductions. The Prime Minister noted that President Trump was preoccupied with his schedule, which led to the oversight of giving specific instructions on the matter. However, he emphasized that the commitments made would be reiterated during negotiations by Commerce Minister Supajee Suthamphan.

This meeting marked the second interaction between the two leaders, with President Trump proactively inquiring about the progress on the tariff discussions. Prime Minister Anutin acknowledged that while they had not yet achieved a significant milestone, they were awaiting the proposed tariff cuts. President Trump admitted to forgetting about the matter due to his busy schedule but assured that actions would be taken. He emphasized that there was no pressure involved and instructed Minister Supajee to persuade him to proceed with the tax reductions.
