Rumors of Cambodian Seizure of ‘Pha Inthra’ in Buriram Proven False

Buriram: 'Pha Inthra' has not yet been seized by Cambodia. Officials on foot inspected "Pha Inthra" in Ban Kruat District, Buriram Province, confirming that it has not yet been seized by Cambodia as rumored on social media and are ready to take legal action against those spreading the false news.

According to Thai News Agency, Border Patrol Police Officers from the 216th Battalion, along with members of the Ban Kruat District Volunteer Defense Corps and forestry officials, traveled to the "Pha Inthra" area in Ban Kruat District, Buriram Province, to investigate after online rumors that it had been seized by Cambodian forces. Initial investigations revealed nothing as reported on social media.

The area of Pha Inthra was once the base of operations for the 216th Border Patrol Police Company, but the base was disbanded in 1990. This investigation follows a Facebook user named "Sanyalak Donsri" posting, "Urgent! Cambodians have seized Pha Inthra Sai Tri, Ban Kruat. Soldiers are forbidden from allowing villagers to tap rubber. Senior military officers are negotiating. 'Please leave. I surrender. Please!'"

The Second Army Region previously issued a statement clarifying that its investigation found no indications of a violation of Thai sovereignty. Officials have verified the source of the information and are in the process of filing charges under the Computer Crimes Act for disseminating false information.
