Selection Committee Disqualifies Saran from NBTC Chairmanship

Bangkok: The Selection Committee for the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has ruled unanimously that Professor Soran Boonbaichaiyapruk lacks the qualifications necessary to serve as the Chairman of the NBTC. The committee found that Professor Soran possesses characteristics that disqualify him from holding the position according to the legal standards set forth by the NBTC.

According to Thai News Agency, the decision was based on the authority granted by Section 8 (2) of the Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission Act B.E. 2553. This legal provision implicitly deems Professor Saran to have waived his right to hold the position of NBTC Commissioner in light of Section 18 of the same Act. The ruling is further supported by amendments made in the Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission Act (No. 4) B.E. 2564.
