Bangkok: "Sirikanya" emphasizes that government formation must be transparent, without any secret deals or banquets. Sirikanya declared that she has learned her lesson and emphasized that the formation of a government under the People's Party must be transparent and free from secret deals or banquets.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Sirikanya Tansakul, Deputy Leader of the People's Party and Prime Minister candidate, commented on the current campaigning period, stating that it's normal for a leading party to focus on political maneuvering if they don't attack each other. However, she added that there are many other ways to present policies and compete, and that parties should focus on constructively presenting policies rather than attacking their opponents. She urged all parties to shift from aggression to promoting policies that primarily benefit the people.
Regarding the launch of the public sector and bureaucratic reform team today, Ms. Sirikanya confirmed that the People's Party is serious this time. They have appointed one minister directly responsible for this matter. What they are unveiling is the management team; it cannot yet be called a cabinet due to legal restrictions. However, they want professionals with knowledge, ability, and political will to drive reforms to achieve positive results, benefiting both the public and civil servants.
Ms. Sirikanya addressed concerns about the public announcement of cabinet appointments potentially leading to opposition attacks. She stated that they are open to receiving public feedback on these appointments. This approach allows for concerns to be addressed before finalizing the cabinet, and she emphasized their openness and willingness to listen to feedback on areas for improvement.
She acknowledged that people often question whether a party composed of new politicians can govern effectively. To assure the public, the People's Party presents its management team before the election, providing transparency and demonstrating their capability.
When questioned about qualifications within the party, Ms. Sirikanya clarified that whether individuals are insiders or outsiders is irrelevant as they have all worked with the party. The disclosure of names serves as public scrutiny, ensuring accountability through the Prime Minister, who is responsible for the Cabinet's work.
Regarding the Bhumjaithai Party's similar strategy, Ms. Sirikanya remarked that the People's Party had planned this approach beforehand. She emphasized that their selection is based on knowledge and expertise, not a quota system, distinguishing them from other parties.
When asked about the potential launch on December 11th, Ms. Sirikanya highlighted the teamwork across ministries as the impressive factor, urging people to consider this model of government.
Concerning the People's Party's stance on Anutin Charnvirakul as Prime Minister, Ms. Sirikanya reiterated their commitment to Nattapong Ruangpanyawut as their candidate. She emphasized that any agreement within a coalition government must be transparent and open to public scrutiny, avoiding secret negotiations.
"We've learned our lesson. There will be no more secret negotiations or discussions at banquets. Everything will be transparent for the public," Ms. Sirikanya stated, urging voters to choose the People's Party for a transparent government.
