Songkhla Governor Orders Immediate Evacuation in Hat Yai District Amid Severe Flooding Risk

Songkhla: The Songkhla Governor has ordered the immediate evacuation of all residents in Hat Yai District to safety to address the potential for severe flooding. Songkhla Governor Ratthasart Chidchu has issued an order for residents in Hat Yai District to immediately evacuate to designated evacuation points, including the Prince of Songkla University International Convention Center, the Songkhla Rajabhat University Auditorium, and the Songkhla Naval Area Command's Second Naval Area Command. He has urged them to evacuate at-risk areas as quickly as possible, as the flooding situation is severe and expected to worsen.

According to Thai News Agency, Songkhla Province has mobilized all sectors to support the evacuation effort, particularly military personnel. This includes coordinating with Mr. Bin Banleurit's volunteer team to deploy flat-bottomed boats to assist those affected by the disaster in isolated areas. This effort aims to expedite the movement of all population groups, including children, the elderly, the sick, and the disabled, to safety as quickly as possible.

However, although the water level in Khlong R.1 is still draining normally, heavy rainfall and continued accumulation of water have led water security agencies to assess that flooding could be more severe than that of 2000. Therefore, the public is urged to strictly follow evacuation orders and official advice for the safety of everyone in the area.
