Sophon Saram, President of the Parliament and Speaker of the House of Representatives, has announced a strategic overhaul aimed at enhancing legislative communication. At the first meeting of the Parliamentary Radio and Television Policy Committee in 2026, Mr. Sophon emphasized the necessity of integrating radio, television, and digital platforms to maximize the effectiveness of parliamentary media. He highlighted that effective communication is vital for government agencies to maintain transparency and build public trust, which are crucial for the flourishing of democracy.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Sophon articulated the need for restructuring operations and reallocating budgets to ensure efficient use of resources. He stressed the importance of involving the public, particularly the youth, in media production to promote democratic values. Initiatives such as mock parliamentary sessions and live broadcasts are proposed to encourage young people's understanding of democratic processes. Mr. Sophon also underscored the role of Parliament as a mediator to address public grievances, advocating for the institution to facilitate solutions and provide tangible assistance to citizens.
