Bangkok: "Sophon," the chairman, signed an agreement to prevent and solve corruption. Deputy Prime Minister Sophon Saram presided over the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding focusing on collaborative efforts to prevent and address corruption and misconduct within government agencies and state entities. Attendees included key figures such as Ms. Yupa Taweewattanakitbaworn, Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office, alongside representatives from various anti-corruption and governmental oversight bodies.
According to Thai News Agency, the Provincial Governance Committee (PGC) holds the authority to supervise and promote ethical standards and good governance among government agencies and officials within the province. This initiative ensures that duties are performed with transparency and accountability, aligned with government policies for the fiscal year 2026 (B.E. 2569).
The memorandum of understanding signifies a collaborative effort between the Office of the Permanent Secretary to the Prime Minister, the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), the State Audit Office (SAO), the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC), and the Department of Special Investigation (DSI). This partnership aims to fortify prevention, deterrence, and suppression efforts, adapting to societal changes and aligning with the 2017 Constitution and the 20-year National Strategy on Public Sector Management.
The signing ceremony reinforces the mission of the Provincial Good Governance Committee. It is designed to ensure public administration adheres to six key principles: rule of law, morality, participation, transparency, accountability, and cost-effectiveness. Consistent adherence to these principles is seen as vital in advancing Thailand towards a governance system characterized by transparency and efficiency.
Subsequently, leaders from partner agencies, including Ms. Yupapha Thawiwattanakitbaworn and Mr. Surapong Intarathaworn of the National Anti-Corruption Commission, signed the memorandum to strengthen cooperation in combating corruption and misconduct in government operations, marking a significant step towards a sustainable and well-governed civil service system.
