Southern Thailand Flooding Causes Daily Economic Losses of 1.5 Billion Baht

Bangkok: The University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce estimates that flood damage in the South will be 1.5 billion baht per day. The ongoing flooding affects 10 southern provinces, severely impacting the economic and tourism sectors with substantial financial consequences.

According to Thai News Agency, Thanawat Phonwichai, President and Advisor to the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce's Center for Economic and Business Forecasting, has revealed that the damage could range from 1,000 to 1,500 million baht per day. If the flooding continues for an extended period, the overall damage could increase tenfold, potentially reaching 10,000-15,000 million baht within a month.

The University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce's Center for Economic and Business Forecasting plans to conduct a detailed assessment of the impact next week. The assessment will provide a clearer picture of the economic ramifications and help in formulating strategies to mitigate the effects of the flooding.
