Mueang samut prakan: A speeding pickup truck rear-ended a motorcycle under the MRT Sri Thepa station, dragging the motorcycle and its rider for over 100 meters, resulting in the rider's death at the scene. According to Thai News Agency, CCTV footage from a nearby barbecue restaurant captured the harrowing incident around 11:30 PM last night. The footage showed the motorcycle traveling in the left lane when it was struck from behind by the pickup truck, causing both the motorcycle and rider to be dragged along the road amidst a shower of sparks before the vehicle finally halted on the sidewalk.
In the aftermath of the collision, police from Samrong Nuea Police Station arrived at the scene on Theparak Road, specifically in the inbound lane south of the Sri Thepa MRT station. Officers discovered Mr. Chusak, aged 56, lying unconscious with severe injuries and multiple wounds covering his body and face. Despite emergency medical personnel's efforts to revive him through CPR and subsequent transportation to the hospital, Mr. Chusak was pronounced dead.
The crash left the red motorcycle in ruins on the sidewalk, while the pickup truck involved, identified as a white vehicle with front-end damage, remained at the scene. The driver, Mr. Rueangarun, 26, admitted to traveling at approximately 100 kilometers per hour in the left lane towards the Sri Thepa intersection. He stated that the motorcycle, which was attempting to make a U-turn, shifted lanes, leaving him unable to prevent the collision.
Authorities are currently in the process of conducting a thorough investigation, which involves reviewing CCTV footage and interviewing both the driver and potential witnesses, as they prepare to take appropriate legal action.
