State Railway of Thailand Participates in Royal Cremation Ceremony for Crane Collapse Victims

Bangkok: The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) participated in the royal cremation ceremony for those who died in the crane collapse incident. The acting governor of the State Railway of Thailand attended the royal cremation ceremony, expressing condolences and presenting initial compensation to the bereaved families.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Anan Pothinimdaeng, Deputy Governor of the State Railway of Thailand and Acting Governor of the SRT, along with the SRT executive team and staff, attended the royal cremation ceremony for the victims of the construction crane collapse on the high-speed rail project. The ceremony took place on January 18, 2026, at Wat Phai Lueang in Bang Bua Thong District, Nonthaburi Province. The event served as an opportunity to express condolences and offer support to the bereaved families.

In this regard, the Acting Governor presented a compensation payment of 340,000 baht to the family of the deceased. This assistance aims to alleviate hardship and provide encouragement to the bereaved family during this challenging time.

The ceremony was conducted with respect and dignity. The Acting Governor expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and affirmed that the SRT will continue to provide assistance to ensure that the affected families receive appropriate and fair compensation.

The State Railway of Thailand expresses its condolences for the lives lost and reaffirms its commitment to support those affected by the incident. The SRT also plans to implement safety measures to restore public confidence in the railway system.
