Supajee Confirms Stalled Tariff Negotiations with US, Awaits Cabinet Discussion

Bangkok: Commerce Minister Supajee Suthamphan has reiterated that negotiations on the Trump tariff deal have stalled and are awaiting discussion in the Cabinet.

According to Thai News Agency, Supajee confirmed that the United States has not yet adjusted its terms regarding tariffs, highlighting that the final decision rests with the US State Department, which has instructed its technical team to deliberate on the matter. Despite ongoing discussions, Supajee emphasized that no changes have been communicated by the US trade representatives.

In response to inquiries about the US leader's potential use of tariffs to influence Thailand's conflict resolution with Cambodia, Supajee mentioned that she has not yet received any official stance on the matter. She acknowledged the circulating reports but clarified the situation as she understands it.

Supajee also addressed questions about the timeline for completing these negotiations before a new government assumes office, stating that she is uncertain due to numerous influencing factors. Additionally, regarding the National Security Council's possible resolution to restrict oil and military exports to Cambodia, and its potential impact on other exports, Supajee noted her lack of awareness and expressed her intention to await the Cabinet meeting outcomes before commenting further.
