TFEX adds EUR/THB Futures and JPY/THB Futures, trading starts on 4 Nov 2024

TFEX is preparing to add 2 more foreign exchange futures contracts, or CurrencyFutures, namely EUR/THB Futures and JPY/THB Futures, starting trading on 4 November 2024.

Ms. Rinjai Chakrapipat, Managing Director of Thailand Futures Exchange Public Company Limited (TFEX), said that currently, exchange rates are more volatile, affecting the costs and profits of import-export businesses and investors investing abroad. Therefore, currency management is important. However, on the other hand, for investors, Volatility can also be an opportunity to profit from currency movements.

‘Currently, TFEX trades USD/THB, EUR/USD and USD/JPY. TFEX is preparing to add 2 more trading options: EUR/THB and JPY/THB, which will make TFEX Currency Futures cover major currencies from Asia, Europe and America,’ said Ms. Rinjai.

One EUR/THB Futures contract is equal to 1,000 EUR, and one JPY/THB Futures contract is equal to 100,000 JPY. Investors must place an initial collateral of approximately 1,000 – 1,500 THB per contract, which
is a contract size that is convenient for investors and entrepreneurs. Investors can trade TFEX Currency Futures by simply having a derivatives trading account. No need to show proof of foreign transactions and no need for a credit line with the bank. TFEX Currency Futures is open for trading every business day from 9.15 a.m. to 3 a.m. of the following day. The two new products, EUR/THB and JPY/THB, will start trading on November 4, 2024 onwards.
