Bangkok: The government is advancing its efforts to establish a "Digital Government" as part of the Digital Government Development Plan 2027-2032, aimed at enhancing government services to become "convenient and reliable for everyone."
According to Thai News Agency, the first meeting of the Digital Government Development Committee for 2026 was chaired by Mr. Paradorn Prisnanantakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, with participation from Mr. Chaiyanok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society. The meeting, attended by Ms. Yupapha Thawiwattanakitbaworn, Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office, and Ms. Chuencheewan Limptherakul, Deputy Permanent Secretary, along with representatives from relevant government agencies, focused on drafting the plan.
The Deputy Permanent Secretary highlighted that the meeting reviewed the draft of Thailand's Digital Government Development Plan for 2027-2032, which outlines a strategic framework to modernize government services in the digital era. The plan's objective is to transform Thailand into a "digital government that is convenient, secure, and accessible to all," driven by five core strategies: upgrading digital government services, linking government data, developing digital infrastructure, promoting artificial intelligence (AI), and enhancing government personnel capabilities. The committee requested revisions to the plan for further consideration in the next meeting.
A significant initiative within the plan is the creation of a "Single Portal," designed to provide seamless access to government services through a unified channel via a Digital ID system. This initiative aims to streamline essential services like e-Signature, Document Wallet, and the National Payment Platform, thereby reducing paperwork and facilitating more convenient online transactions for citizens.
Moreover, the plan underscores the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in delivering public services, managing internal government functions, and analyzing policy data to boost efficiency, transparency, and precision in government operations.
Discussions also focused on expediting the consolidation of government digital services into a centralized "Government Platform" and enhancing services to meet the United Nations e-Government Development Index (UN-EGDI) standards. Agencies were directed to formulate specific plans for digital service development and data integration into the central government system.
An additional priority is fostering data connectivity and exchange within the government sector through the Government Data Exchange Center (GDX), based on the Federated Data Exchange concept. This initiative aims to enhance public services by minimizing the need for citizens to submit document copies and improving inter-agency collaboration.
