Thailand Faces Limited Rainfall: Meteorological Department Issues Weather Update

Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has indicated that Thailand is currently experiencing a reduction in rainfall, with precipitation affecting only about 20% of the country. According to Thai News Agency, the decrease in rain is attributed to the weakening of the moderate southwest monsoon that covers the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.

Wave conditions remain moderate in the upper Andaman Sea, with waves reaching 1-2 meters, while in the lower Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, waves are approximately 1 meter high. In areas with thunderstorms, waves may exceed 2 meters. Mariners are advised to exercise caution and avoid sailing in regions with thunderstorms.

In Northern Thailand, thunderstorms are expected in 20% of the area, primarily affecting Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, and Tak provinces. Similarly, Northeastern Thailand has a 20% chance of rain, with expected rainfall in Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nakhon Phanom, Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, and Ubon Ratchathani provinces.

The central region of Thailand will likely see thunderstorms in 20% of the area, mostly in Uthai Thani, Suphan Buri, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, and Nakhon Pathom provinces. The eastern region, which includes coastal areas, has a 30% likelihood of thunderstorms, mostly in Nakhon Nayok, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat provinces.

In southern Thailand, the eastern part has a 30% chance of thunderstorms, affecting Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat provinces.
