Thailand Launches ‘One Living Planet’ Eco-Tourism Campaign for 2026

Bangkok: A new chapter of tourism is unfolding in Thailand with the launch of the 'One Living Planet: Green Travel, Refreshing Experiences' campaign. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is spearheading this initiative as part of its 2026 tourism policy. The campaign aims to transition the travel industry's focus from sheer numbers to enhancing value, emphasizing meaningful and sustainable travel experiences.

According to Thai News Agency, TAT's approach aligns with the growing global trend where tourists prioritize environmental and spiritual values. The campaign endeavors to attract eco-conscious travelers by promoting markets and developing products and services that cater to transformative travel. Tourists are encouraged to engage in positive activities such as exploring marine ecosystems and learning about wildlife, rather than merely seeking relaxation. The initiative is structured around four key themes: Eco Adventure, Wildlife-friendly, The Sea Calls to Me, and Nature Therapy, all fostering a connection to nature and a commitment to planetary balance.

Mr. Apichai Chatchalermkit, TAT's Deputy Governor for Domestic Marketing, highlighted that the One Living Planet project serves as a crucial mechanism to drive domestic tourism. The focus is on value creation, attracting quality tourists, spreading income to communities, and enhancing products and services to meet modern tourists' needs. The project aims to establish a new foundation for Thai tourism, ensuring balanced growth across government, private sectors, and communities, both economically and environmentally.

A notable feature of the project is the "Voluntourist" activity, a two-day, one-night trip scheduled for April 28-29, 2026, in collaboration with actor and environmentalist Alex Rendell. This program offers tourists hands-on experiences with nature, including learning about energy and the environment at Sirindhorn International Environmental Park, exploring mangrove ecosystems, wildlife release, beach clean-ups, and forest ecosystem education in Kui Buri National Park.

Moreover, the project has developed eight eco-tourism routes in partnership with sustainability-focused tour companies like Railay Eco Tour and Wild Encounter Thailand. These routes offer eco-friendly travel experiences with minimal environmental impact, featuring activities such as island hopping, eco-tourism workshops, and community learning. Tourists can enjoy discounts on tour packages, accommodations, and special One Day Trip programs.

The campaign also collaborates with prominent partners to provide exclusive travel, accommodation, and lifestyle promotions. Offers include discounts from Traveloka, Grab, Vietjet Thailand, and KTC credit card cashback. Additional benefits come from Nakhonchai Air, Oasis Spa, and EV Station PluZ, enhancing the overall travel experience with financial incentives and unique perks.

This initiative redefines travel as not just reaching a destination but discovering new meanings and creating impactful memories. Every journey becomes a step towards environmental stewardship, offering travelers the chance to be part of a significant change through rewarding and valuable experiences.
