According to Thai News Agency, CCTV footage from Wat Rangsit, Lak Hok Subdistrict, Mueang Pathum Thani District, shows a 40-year-old thin man driving a motorcycle and parking near a monk's residence. He then surveys the temple grounds for a while before stealing a gas cylinder and fleeing. After the video was shared on social media, many people provided information identifying the man as a dangerous individual who had previously been featured on television. He is known to have a history of theft in several areas, including stealing a bag from a Buddhist amulet collector in Nonthaburi Province and committing crimes at various temples in the Rangsit area. Furthermore, it was reported that on the same day, this same suspect also stole a mobile phone from a convenience store.
Phra Phongsak Thongchiwong, a monk at Wat Rangsit, revealed that burglars broke into the temple and stole a 4-kilogram picnic gas cylinder from in front of his living quarters. Crucial evidence includes CCTV footage from in front of the monks' quarters showing the stolen gas cylinder was placed there. Other items and donation containers were nearby, appearing normal and untouched. Prior to the incident, another monk was about to use the gas stove to boil bitter melon for his diabetes treatment but discovered the gas cylinder was missing. He then contacted the temple's treasurer to review the CCTV footage. The monk plans to submit the CCTV footage to the Pak Khlong Rangsit Police Station to expedite the investigation and bring the perpetrator to justice as soon as possible.
