Transport Company Implements Safety Measures for Rainy Season Travel

Bangkok: The Transport Company Limited (BKS) has launched safety measures to ensure secure travel during Thailand's rainy season, urging drivers to exercise caution and perform vehicle checks before each trip to bolster confidence among service users.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chatchawan Promratham, Director and Acting Managing Director of BKS, highlighted that the onset of the rainy season has led to rainfall across many regions in Thailand, potentially creating obstacles on the roads and increasing the risk of accidents. In response, BKS has introduced safety measures for its fleet of 266 buses and has advised approximately 5,500 private buses under its supervision to adhere to these standards. This initiative aligns with the policy of Mr. Surapong Piyachote, Deputy Minister of Transport, aiming to facilitate safe public transportation during the rainy season.

The safety measures include a thorough inspection of the buses, ensuring the proper condition of tires, wiper blades, lights, brake systems, and seat belts before each service. Drivers are instructed to adhere strictly to traffic laws, exercise extra caution on wet or flooded roads, and avoid reckless driving. On routes exceeding six hours, two drivers will be assigned. Drivers are also required to be physically and mentally fit to safely transport passengers to their destinations. Additionally, the Transport Company utilizes a GPS system to monitor driving for safe travel.

BKS has also enhanced its drivers' skills through a bus simulator training program, allowing drivers to practice and experience real-life driving scenarios. This training aims to reduce accident rates and increase confidence in the safety of public transportation.

The Transport Company advises the public to check daily weather forecasts for travel planning and recommends carrying rain protection equipment. Passengers using the Bangkok Bus Terminal (Chatuchak) or Mo Chit 2 are provided with specific boarding instructions to ensure convenience and minimize the risk of getting wet.
