Truck Bursts Into Flames After Swerving to Avoid Pedestrian

Bangkok: A 10-wheel tractor-trailer swerved to avoid a pedestrian crossing the road, crashing into a tree and bursting into flames. Fortunately, the driver escaped in time.

According to Thai News Agency, a fire broke out in the cab of a red Hino 10-wheel tractor-trailer truck with Sisaket license plates, severely damaging the vehicle after it had crashed into a tree on the roadside. Firefighters spent 15 minutes spraying water on the cab to control the blaze. The driver escaped the vehicle beforehand, but the truck's cab was completely destroyed.

The truck driver recounted that while driving up a bridge over a canal, as he descended from the bridge, he saw a pedestrian crossing the road in front of his truck. He swerved to the left to avoid them but lost control, causing the truck to veer off the road and crash into a tree. The fuse box at the back of the cab short-circuited, causing a fire. He did not see the pedestrian at the scene after the incident subsided. The truck owner contacted his insurance company to assess the damage and went to provide further information at Bang Nam Priao Police Station.
