Phrae: A young truck driver, tasked with transporting what he believed to be empty crates, made a shocking discovery when he uncovered over 8 million methamphetamine pills hidden within the cargo. The driver, who was hired through a LINE group to deliver goods from Song District, Phrae Province, to Suphan Buri Province, stumbled upon the illicit haul while inspecting the goods before loading them onto his truck. He promptly contacted authorities by calling 191 to report the find.
According to Thai News Agency, officials were led to an unmarked rented warehouse in Moo 2, Dan Chumphon Subdistrict, Song District, Phrae Province, where they found stacks of black plastic crates. These crates, drilled with holes and concealed beneath empty ones, contained large black bags. Upon thorough inspection, authorities discovered and removed 40 black bags, two of which had GPS tracking devices attached.
Inside each black bag, a meticulous arrangement was found: two layers of black bags alternated with layers of striped sacks, containing 20 bundles of yellow wax paper. These bundles held the significant stash of methamphetamine pills, totaling over 8 million in number.
During questioning, the truck driver revealed that he had accepted the job through a job-seeking LINE group, which offered him 6,000 baht to transport empty baskets from Amphoe Song, Phrae Province, to Suphan Buri Province. Upon reaching the meeting point, his inspection of the goods led to the discovery of a suspicious black bag. The delivery personnel, who fled on motorcycles, left him uncertain about the contents, prompting his call to the authorities.
As the investigation unfolds, authorities are scrutinizing CCTV footage from the vicinity of the incident in hopes of identifying and apprehending those responsible for the attempted drug transport.
