Two Burmese Brothers Arrested for Brutally Stabbing a Thai Man to Death

Nakhon ratchasima: Police arrested two Myanmar brothers who stabbed a young Thai man to death. They claimed the victim refused to return the money and was assaulted.

According to Thai News Agency, two Myanmar construction workers, Mr. Saw and Mr. Din, were taken to a residence in Phu Thai Village, Village No. 14, Wang Sai Subdistrict, Pak Chong District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, for a reenactment of the crime. They allegedly used a five-inch knife to stab Mr. Natthaphong, a 27-year-old Thai worker, to death on October 31st. They then fled to Bangkok to hide before being apprehended by investigators.

Initially, both men confessed that the deceased had borrowed 400-500 baht and refused to pay it back. On the day of the incident, they went to ask the deceased for the money, telling him not to borrow it if he didn't have the money to pay back later. An argument ensued, with Mr. So, who was about to eat, being attacked in the room by the deceased and hit him in the back with a metal rod twice. Mr. So then used a knife in the room to stab the deceased, but it was unclear where the attack had occurred.

The employer then had his two subordinates, a husband and wife, drive him to escape by bus at the Nakhon Ratchasima bus terminal to Bangkok. The two Myanmar suspects, siblings, had no immigration documents and were illegal immigrants who had lived in Thailand for 20 years. Mr. Saw also said he did not intend to stab them and did not know where he had been stabbed to death. He also said that his younger brother, Mr. Din, was not involved and was lying on a stretcher outside the room at the time of the incident.

Initially, officials charged the two Myanmar men with joint assault resulting in death and illegal immigration. Their employer was prosecuted for employing and harboring foreigners. Meanwhile, the two subordinates who helped them escape were charged with helping the suspect escape from arrest.
