Dubai: The United Arab Emirates announced a temporary closure of its airspace after Iran launched a new series of drone and missile attacks. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced the indefinite temporary closure of its nationwide airspace to enhance aviation security following assessments that Iran may launch a new round of drone and missile attacks.
According to Thai News Agency, these measures come amid escalating tensions, with earlier reports of ongoing attacks on oil depots and ports in the UAE, prompting the government to accelerate efforts to protect national sovereignty and security.
The UAE Civil Aviation Authority stated that partial airspace closures had already occurred as a precautionary measure before being extended to a full closure now. Meanwhile, the Dubai government media office confirmed that the explosions heard by residents in several areas of Dubai were the result of an air defense system successfully intercepting a drone and missiles.
In addition, authorities have temporarily banned foreign airlines from flying into and out of Dubai's main airports until further notice following the earlier airstrikes. The incident also impacted the aviation fuel delivery system in the area, causing supply chain disruptions and beginning to affect overall aviation operations.
However, the relevant agencies are working urgently to resolve the situation so that the airport and air travel system can return to normal operations as quickly as possible.
