Jakarta: Wathin Chernchom clinched the gold medal in the men's 800m race at the 17th ASEAN Youth Athletics Championships for Under 18s and Under 20s held in Indonesia. The young Thai runner completed the race with a time of 1:57.96, contributing to the Thai youth athletics team's impressive performance at the event.
According to Thai News Agency, the Thai youth athletic team amassed a total of five gold medals, seven silver medals, and eight bronze medals at the championships. The gold medalists included Teeradej Boonchit in the men's U-18 400m race with a time of 49.39 seconds, Phummarin Thaweechan in the women's U-18 discus with a distance of 41.93 meters, and Kotchakorn Hamajam in the women's U-18 hammer throw with a distance of 56.00 meters. Additionally, the men's U-18 4x400 meter relay team, comprising Kritsada Muhua Na, Teeraphat Klaopho, Sarayu Phromwanrat, and Teeradej Boonchit, secured gold with a time of 3:21.75 minutes.
