Bangkok: Wisut Chainarun, Chairman of the Pheu Thai Party and Chairman of the Government Coalition Coordination Committee, has publicly dismissed allegations of vote-buying in exchange for 10 kilos of votes, expressing confidence that no one will believe such claims. He challenged the opposition to promptly report the matter to the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) to avoid political rhetoric.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Wisut urged the opposition to provide clear evidence and file a report with the DSI to track down those responsible for the allegations. He emphasized the need for clarity in accusations, urging the opposition to avoid making ambiguous statements that could cause unnecessary public concern. Wisut reiterated that there is no need to buy votes and assured that the government's budget will pass without issues.
Mr. Wisut also addressed the alleged high price of votes, questioning the validity of the claims and challenging the opposition to take legal action if they believed in the allegations. He assured that, as a government official, he would take full responsibility if the accusations were true. Wisut emphasized the importance of speaking with facts and not using rhetoric to govern the country, expressing his willingness to investigate any claims made against the government or his party.
Regarding potential damage to the government's position, Mr. Wisut expressed confidence that the allegations would not be believed and that they were not damaging. He questioned the validity of claims about receiving 10 kilograms, stating that if the allegations were true, the opposition would have pursued debates and legal actions rather than merely making public statements.
