Bangkok: Yaowarat Dragon Road is set to welcome tourists from around the world for the 2025 Chinese New Year Festival, scheduled for January 29-30.
According to Thai News Agency, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is making extensive preparations to celebrate the occasion, which marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China. The event aims to celebrate the New Year of Chinese people globally, as well as Thai-Chinese communities in Thailand, and to promote traditional culture while boosting Thailand's tourism industry to a world-class level. This celebration is a collaborative effort led by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the TAT, transforming Dragon Street with vibrant red and gold lights under the theme 'Ignite Your Senses Embrace Our Two Cultures', symbolizing success, wealth, and fortune.
The festival's highlight is the Chalermprakiat Archway, adorned with red lanterns that have been popular among tourists for selfies and social media posts. The opening of the Chinatown Market, Chalermburi, introduces a new landmark featuring food stalls, chill music, and entertainment. Visitors are greeted by Chinese-Thai giants at the entrance, alongside an exhibition celebrating the royal grace of the people and the 50th anniversary of Thai-Chinese diplomatic ties.
Along Yaowarat Road, numerous shops, restaurants, and booths invite tourists to savor and shop for delicacies from renowned eateries, adding color and flavor to the festival from 4 pm to midnight. Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn will grace the event by opening the 'Yaowarat Chinese New Year' Festival on January 29 at 5:00 p.m. at the 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary Celebration Arch, and will visit various booths and activities throughout the event.
