Trang: Buddhists are being invited to pay homage to the Buddha's relics known as "Urangkathat" at Wat Prasitchai in Trang Province. Ms. Sasikan Wattanachan, Deputy Government Spokesperson, announced that the relics, originally from Bihar, India, will be enshrined temporarily at the temple to allow public access.
According to Thai News Agency, the event is a collaboration between the government, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), and the ASEAN Cultural Council. It offers a unique opportunity for Buddhists in Trang Province and nearby regions to honor the legacy of the Lord Buddha by visiting the sacred relics. This event is scheduled from August 6th to 25th, 2025, and the temple will be open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The "Urankathatha" relics are highly regarded within the Buddhist community, symbolizing prosperity and unity. The event underscores the cultural and spiritual bond between Thailand and India, the origin of Buddhism. Ms. Sasikan emphasized that this event aims to preserve religious and cultural values, promoting morality and unity within Thai society.
