Buriram: Buriram Airport has significantly increased its security measures to operate around the clock, following a directive from Ms. Mallika Jiraphanwanich, Deputy Minister of Transport. This decision comes in response to the ongoing situation in the border area of Buriram Province.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Mallika has instructed the Department of Airports (DoA) to implement stringent inspections for individuals, baggage, and vehicles entering and exiting the airport. The enhanced security measures include deploying additional personnel and security equipment to ensure continuous operation. The airport is also expected to improve its security surveillance to facilitate a rapid and effective emergency response.
The directive emphasizes the importance of coordinating with local security units, including police and army personnel, to monitor the situation closely. The aim is to build confidence among service users and the local populace by ensuring preparedness to handle any potential situations that may arise. Additionally, the airport is encouraged to support relevant agencies in providing assistance to those affected by the unrest in the border areas.
Mr. Danai Ruangson, Director-General of the Department of Airports, confirmed that all airports under the DoA are prepared to respond to emergencies in line with their incident response and airport emergency plans. An operations center has been established to monitor public disasters and security threats, ensuring prompt information coordination with sub-operations centers at each airport.
Despite the heightened security, Buriram Airport continues to operate as usual. However, passengers are advised to allocate extra time for their journey. For further travel inquiries, passengers can reach out to Buriram Airport at 044-666334 or visit their Facebook page for updates.
