Bangkok: Thai Honda, the renowned manufacturer and distributor of Honda motorcycles and multi-purpose engines in Thailand, is amplifying its commitment to road safety in celebration of its 60th anniversary. This significant gesture aligns with their national campaign to enhance road safety and promote helmet use across the country.
According to Thai News Agency, the initiative culminated at Bangkok City Hall, where Dr. Arak Pornprabha, President of Thai Honda Co., Ltd., presented the helmets to Mr. Chatchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok. This donation is a part of a larger effort, marking the completion of a helmet caravan that distributed 112,440 helmets nationwide, valued at over 112 million baht. The campaign's goal is to support road safety improvements throughout Thailand, reduce the risk of accidents, and foster a culture of helmet-wearing among Thai citizens.
Dr. Arak Pornprabha emphasized that the Helmet Caravan project, commemorating Thai Honda's 60th anniversary, underscores the company's dedication to giving back to Thai society by promoting road safety. He highlighted that Bangkok was the final stop on this journey, representing a collaborative milestone among government, educational, and private sectors in fostering a culture of road safety.
Mr. Hayato Seguchi, Executive Vice President of Thai Honda Co., Ltd., elaborated on the project's goals under the concept of "60 Years of Thai Honda: Safe Riding for a Sustainable Thai Society." He expressed hope that the donation of 16,500 helmets to Bangkok would cultivate a helmet-wearing culture and support the work of government agencies and educational institutions in promoting practical safety in daily motorcycle use.
Governor Chatchart Sittipunt acknowledged Bangkok's ongoing prioritization of road safety, particularly for motorcycle users. He noted that Thai Honda's support in providing helmets would complement the efforts of government agencies and educational institutions in raising awareness and promoting daily helmet use. He emphasized the importance of public and private sector collaboration in enhancing road safety and creating a safer urban society.
