Bangkok: Evidence has emerged implicating "Big Jok" (Pol. Gen. Surachate Hakparn) in a bribery scandal involving the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), following the release of substantial evidence by the Royal Thai Police. The case centers around a transaction where 246 baht weight of gold was allegedly used as a bribe. The investigation has unveiled video footage showing Pol. Col. Pakphum Phisamai, a close associate of "Big Jok," handing over the gold to a driver of an official NACC vehicle at the Southern Thailand Association parking lot. The presence of an NACC commissioner in the car during this transaction adds weight to the allegations.
According to Thai News Agency, Police Lieutenant General Trairong Phiwphan, Deputy Inspector General of the National Police, and Police Major General Jaroonkiat Panngaeo, Deputy Commander of the Central Investigation Bureau, held a press conference to present video and audio evidence related to this bribery case. They outlined a detailed timeline of events, which suggests that "Big Jok" attempted to influence the NACC in a case linked to an online gambling website. The released clips capture conversations between a subordinate of "Big Jok" and an individual known as Mr. S. These conversations reference the gold's weight, the number of gold bars, and the name "Jok," alongside discussions about lobbying for votes.
Police Lieutenant General Trairong emphasized the robustness of the evidence, which includes purchase receipts, the delivery details of the gold, and the involvement of a senior officer's official vehicle at the scene. This evidence supports the video footage, which has been verified as authentic. Police Colonel Pakphum's role in providing this evidence was also clarified; it was confirmed that his actions were purely in line with judicial procedures, with no personal incentive or exchange involved in collaborating with the police.
