Bangkok: The Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that the 2026 elections and referendums are conducted with transparency and verifiability.
According to Thai News Agency, the ECT, along with key partners including the Royal Thai Police (RTP), Thailand Post, and the Department of Consular Affairs, is set to strictly manage all transportation routes linked to the election and referendum processes. This coordinated effort aims to ensure that every stage of the election is accountable and transparent.
The ECT, in a collaborative initiative with Thailand Post Co., Ltd., the Department of Consular Affairs, and the RTP, has established a coordination center designed to streamline the movement of ballots for the 2026 House of Representatives and referendum elections. Mr. Saeng Boonmee, Secretary-General of the ECT, disclosed that a total of 2,410,425 voters have registered for advance voting, categorizing them into voters inside and outside their electoral districts, and those voting from abroad.
In preparation for the elections, the ECT has meticulously developed laws, regulations, and procedures that prioritize accuracy and accountability. Thailand Post has been entrusted with the critical task of transporting and delivering ballots both domestically and internationally, ensuring that all materials related to advance voting are handled efficiently throughout the election period.
Security measures are a top priority, and the ECT has coordinated with the RTP to safeguard ballot papers and essential documents. Police Lieutenant General Udon Yomcharoen highlighted that over 126,000 personnel have been deployed to ensure the safety and order of the election process, with specific attention to the secure transportation of ballots.
Dr. Danan Subhatharaphan, President and CEO of Thailand Post Company Limited, emphasized the readiness of Thailand Post in supporting the election process. The organization has been assigned five main transportation missions, which include delivering ballots to constituencies and managing advance voting logistics. The newly established Coordination Center at Thailand Post Headquarters will oversee the transportation operations round the clock, further enhancing the transparency and efficiency of the election process.
The Department of Consular Affairs has also undertaken extensive preparations for managing advance voting outside Thailand, ensuring Thai citizens abroad have comprehensive access to their voting rights. Mr. Mangkon Pratumkaew, Director-General of the Department, stated that nearly 100,000 people have registered for overseas voting, with necessary materials dispatched to Thai embassies and consulates globally.
As the logistics and security plans are set into motion, the ECT and its partners are focused on building public confidence by ensuring a smooth, transparent, and efficient election process for all involved.
