Chaiwut Hails Police Efforts in Eradicating Illicit Activities from Politics

Bangkok: Chaiwut Thanakamanusorn, leader of the Rak Chart Party and a prime ministerial candidate, commended the police for their decisive actions against "grey funds" and illicit activities, asserting that these actions are restoring public trust without being politically motivated.

According to Thai News Agency, Chaiwut shared his perspectives on pressing political issues and the recent crackdown on illegal enterprises, particularly highlighting the connections between politicians, online gambling operations, and illegal business groups. He expressed approval following the arrest of a Member of Parliament linked to an online gambling site, suggesting that political parties with substantial online followings and expertise in social media campaigning might have ties to these gambling networks, owing to their similar marketing strategies.

Chaiwut expressed gratitude to law enforcement for apprehending politicians involved in online gambling and underscored the importance of rigorously addressing this issue to mitigate online gambling concerns in Thailand. He also addressed the issue of "grey capital," indicating that, based on media reports, legal actions are underway against all political parties. He emphasized that individuals engaged in illegal businesses, particularly those associated with or within the political sphere, should be excluded from politics and barred from influencing national governance.

Chaiwut firmly stated that the enforcement of the law is not a politically motivated act or an attempt to target any specific party. He remarked, "The arrests are not harassment, because it's something that has to be done to every party. Today, we must take this matter seriously. I don't want shady funds or money from illegal businesses to buy votes or interfere with politics."
