According to Thai News Agency, around 7:00 PM yesterday, a severe fire broke out at the pier of the Bhumibol 2 Bridge on the Pu Chao Saming Phrai side in Samut Prakan province. Thick smoke covered the area, visible from a distance. Flames spread from the ground up the length of the bridge pier, which was over 40 meters high. More than 10 fire trucks were deployed to the scene to extinguish the fire. The fire originated at the base of the bridge pier before spreading to the bridge's drainage pipes. Firefighting efforts were difficult due to the height of the pier. It took firefighters over an hour to bring the fire under control. Initial inspection revealed extensive damage to the drainage pipes.
Meanwhile, the Department of Rural Roads posted a clarification regarding the fire in the drainage pipe of the Bhumibol Bridge, stating that the fire had been successfully extinguished and they are currently investigating the cause.
