Anutin Charnvirakul Asserts Cabinet List Undergoing Rigorous Background Checks

Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul confirmed that the list of cabinet members has been sent for background checks and assured adherence to the Constitutional Court's ruling. He emphasized that the Bhumjaithai Party faces no issues, and any coalition partners with complications will have their nominees returned to their original parties.

According to Thai News Agency, Anutin, who also serves as the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, addressed the progress of cabinet formation. When questioned about the potential intensification of scrutiny on ministers' qualifications amidst emerging cases against those expected to be on the list, Anutin reaffirmed that established criteria are in place, and the Constitutional Court's rulings are binding on all organizations. He indicated that the Bhumjaithai Party does not foresee any delays, as the coalition parties have already received the nominees' lists, which are currently undergoing verification.

The Cabinet Secretariat is coordinating with over ten different agencies to ensure a thorough review of each nominee. Anutin expressed confidence in the process, noting that any nominee found to have issues will be notified back to the original organization that submitted their nomination. Despite being pressed about potential delays, he maintained that the procedure is on track.

Regarding comments by Abhisit Vejjajiva, leader of the Democrat Party, about the Prime Minister's qualifications due to his involvement in the Senate collusion case, Anutin chose not to respond directly, instead laughing off the remarks. Nonetheless, he assured the public that the cabinet formation process is proceeding smoothly and in accordance with all legal requirements.
