Bangkok: The Royal Thai Police are intensifying their crackdown on transnational crime, focusing on illegal immigration by foreigners. The Commissioner General of Police has emphasized three strict measures: prohibiting the use of Thailand as a place of residence, stressing that there will be no discrimination, and ensuring that government officials who facilitate such activities will be dealt with.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong Phiwphan, Deputy Inspector General of the Royal Thai Police and spokesperson for the Royal Thai Police, revealed that Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet, the Commissioner General of the Royal Thai Police, has emphasized the prevention and suppression of all types of crime, including transnational crime. The focus is on the strict enforcement of the law against offenders, especially foreigners residing illegally in Thailand or involved in illegal activities, as reported in the news and circulating on social media. The government prioritizes national security, public safety, and public trust in the country. The Commissioner General has instructed three strict measures: impartial and non-discriminatory law enforcement, particularly against government officials who facilitate such activities; rigorous surveillance and interception; and a transparent and straightforward approach to explaining the situation to the public. He affirmed that Thailand will not allow foreig n criminals to seek refuge or hide in the country.
The Royal Thai Police will take strict and concrete action in three key dimensions. First, they will clarify the facts to the public honestly and transparently to prevent confusion, misinformation, and reduce public panic, while confirming that all actions taken are based on facts and the law. Second, they will integrate cooperation across all sectors in security matters, including the National Security Council (NSC), the armed forces, administrative agencies, the police, the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC), and other relevant agencies, to monitor, prevent, and intercept threats that may affect the country, including transnational crime, espionage, subversion, and all forms of illegal networks. Third, they will enforce the law fairly and without discrimination, especially in cases involving corruption or government officials facilitating illegal activities, which is a major cause of undermining national trust.
A spokesperson for the Royal Thai Police stated that, under these strict measures, the Royal Thai Police affirms that Thailand is open and welcoming to foreigners who enter legally, respect the law, and contribute constructively to Thai society. The Royal Thai Police is prepared to ensure safety and facilitate access, but at the same time, will not tolerate anyone committing illegal acts in Thailand or threatening national security and public order.
