Bangkok: "Paetongtarn" confirms she will pick up her father on Monday and is not worried about wearing an EM bracelet.
According to Thai News Agency, Paetongtarn Shinawatra has expressed no concern about the electronic monitoring (EM) bracelet issue or opposition to her father Thaksin Shinawatra's parole. She emphasized the importance of allowing due process to unfold naturally. Paetongtarn revealed her plans to pick up her father on Monday, making it clear that their discussions did not involve political matters. Her immediate priority following his release will be to ensure he receives a health checkup.
During a recent visit to Klong Prem Central Prison, Paetongtarn, alongside her family members including Mr. Panthongtae Shinawatra, Ms. Pintongta Shinawatra Kunakornwong, and their respective spouses, had the opportunity to see former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. The visit marked the end of four days of waiting, with Paetongtarn expressing her happiness at the prospect of seeing her father outside of prison.
When questioned by reporters about any political discussions during her visit, Paetongtarn clarified that their conversations centered on personal matters and family, particularly her grandchildren. She reiterated that her father's health is the primary concern following his release after 241 days in prison.
Addressing the issue of the EM bracelet, Paetongtarn stated her willingness to comply with any decisions made by the Department of Probation. She expressed a desire to avoid unnecessary complications, indicating that if the decision requires her to wear the bracelet, she will do so without issue.
In response to groups protesting Thaksin's parole, Paetongtarn acknowledged their right to express their opinions. Following their visit, the Shinawatra family took the time to greet supporters from the Red Shirt movement before departing from the prison facility.
