Chanthaburi: Images reveal the Thai-Cambodian border fence in Chanthaburi province. The Thai army is constructing kilometer markers (kilometer markers 52-54), totaling over 1.3 kilometers, to enhance security and improve safety.
According to Thai News Agency, security sources reveal that the Thai army is proceeding with the construction of a fence along the Thai-Cambodian border at the main border crossing point, markers 52-54, in Pong Nam Ron District, Chanthaburi Province, totaling approximately 1,310 meters. This is to reinforce border security and enhance the safety of the local population.
The area is flat with a clearly defined border, lined by patrol roads on both the Thai and Cambodian sides. The fence construction utilizes a strong, standard structure, approximately 170 centimeters high. It involves solid concrete piles and beams, spaced approximately 3 meters apart, using a total of 900-1,000 posts. The top structure consists of precast concrete panels raised approximately 150 centimeters from the ground, reinforced with a highly durable steel mesh approximately 20 centimeters thick to enhance border surveillance and security.
Security sources also revealed that there were occasional obstacles during the operation due to some Cambodian soldiers observing and recording the construction. However, the Thai side clearly affirmed that all operations were within Thailand's sovereign territory and that it was within their right to manage the country's land.
For the first phase of the border fence construction project, the Thai army aims to complete it within 45 days, after starting the project in late April 2026 and continuing construction daily.
This border fence construction is not merely a physical barrier; it reflects the Thai military's commitment to protecting national sovereignty and instilling confidence and reassurance in people living along the border, ensuring lasting peace and security for the nation.
Reporters say that many Cambodians have widely shared images of the construction of the Thai border fence, which were filmed by Cambodian soldiers, on the social media platform Facebook.
