Srisuwan Demands Tax Collection from Thaksin at Government House

Bangkok: Srisuwan Janya stormed Government House to demand the return of 17.6 billion baht in taxes from Thaksin Shinawatra, urging the Prime Minister to use Article 11 to order the Ministry of Finance and the Revenue Department to expedite enforcement of the judgment.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Srisuwan Janya, leader of the Patriotic Organization, visited the government's 1111 complaint center at the Office of the Permanent Secretary to the Prime Minister. He submitted a letter to the Prime Minister, urging expedited action on the Supreme Court's judgment No. 6890/2568, dated August 14, 2025. This judgment reversed a previous decision, dismissing Thaksin Shinawatra's case to revoke his tax assessment. As a result, Thaksin is obligated to pay over 17.6 billion baht in taxes, penalties, and surcharges to the Revenue Department.

The letter insists that the Prime Minister should utilize his authority under Section 11 of the Administrative Procedure Act B.E. 2534 (and its amendments). It urges him to instruct the Minister of Finance and the Director-General of the Revenue Department to expedite the tax collection from Thaksin Shinawatra concerning the sale of shares in Shin Corporation Public Company Limited. Additionally, it demands that the government disclose the progress of these actions to organizations and the public, as guaranteed by the Constitution and the Information Act.

Mr. Srisuwan highlighted the prolonged delay in the tax collection process, asserting that the Prime Minister should oversee the executive branch to ensure relevant agencies strictly comply with the court ruling. This includes collecting interest and fines as required by law to bring the revenue into the government promptly.

Subsequently, Mr. Srisuwan submitted the letter to Mr. Somphat Nilphan, advisor to the Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office, who received the matter for processing. Mr. Srisuwan then immediately departed.
