Bangkok: The House Committee on Judiciary has approved Wayo Asavarungruang as its chairman. The first meeting of the 35 standing committees took place, with "Wayo" chairing the Committee on Courts and Organizations. "Abhisit" and "Parit" were also in attendance, marking the beginning of their roles in this parliamentary session.
According to Thai News Agency, following the recent House of Representatives meeting that appointed all committees, today witnessed the inaugural meetings of all 35 standing committees. A key committee, the Committee on Judicial Affairs, Independent Organizations, the Public Prosecutor's Office, State Enterprises, Public Organizations, and Funds, commenced its session with the election of various positions. Dr. Wayo Asavarungruang, a People's Party list MP, was appointed as chairman, with Ms. Panida Mongkolsawas as first vice-chairman, Mr. Phanthil Nuamjerm, a People's Party Bangkok MP, as secretary, and Mr. Thawiphip Limjitrakorn as committee spokesperson. The committee also includes Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, a Democrat Party list MP, and Mr. Parit Wacharasindhu, a People's Party list MP, who attended the meeting together. Their presence is significant as the committee is anticipated to conduct thorough scrutiny, leveraging their experience and expertise.
In the past, Dr. Wayo, Mr. Parit, and Mr. Phanthil Nuamjerm have played important roles in parliament. Mr. Abhisit's return to parliament after a seven-year hiatus was closely observed, with his performance in parliamentary debates receiving attention.
