Kalasin: A 20-million-baht firework rocket experienced an incomplete parachute deployment and fell into the crowd at the Bun Bang Fai Talai Lan Kut Wa festival in Kalasin province. Fortunately, no one was injured.
According to Thai News Agency, May 17th marked the final day of the unique Bun Bang Fai Talai Talueng festival, the only one of its kind in the world, held in Ban Kud Wa, Tambon Kud Wa, Amphoe Kuchinarai, Kalasin Province. Many Thai and foreign tourists visited to watch and photograph the event, which they then shared online.
In this clip, a moment turned into a life-or-death situation when a 20 million baht firework soared into the sky, worth the hours-long wait. But suddenly, the firework fell back down just a few meters away, right in front of them.
The video shows villagers and tourists cheering for the 20-million-baht firework to ascend as high as possible into the sky, hoping the parachute would deploy completely. After losing momentum from the gunpowder, the firework fell to the ground, and the parachute immediately deployed, eliciting cheers and shouts of joy. However, the parachute suddenly malfunctioned, causing the person filming to quickly run away as the firework was heading straight for their heads. Some people tripped and fell while running. Fortunately, although the firework landed in the middle of the crowd because the parachute didn't fully deploy, the speed at which it fell wasn't too fast, allowing the elderly woman to narrowly escape injury.
Therefore, we would like to offer some advice for those who wish to watch firework displays: If you see an object in the sky about to fall in your direction, quickly run for cover. While running, keep looking up at the object to see if it is still heading towards you. Run while looking up at the sky to ensure your survival. And absolutely do not enter the restricted safety zone.
