Bangkok: Ms. Supamas Isarabhakdi, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, presided over a merit-making ceremony today in honor of the 89th birthday of Somdej Phra Maha Thira-chan, the Chief Abbot of the Northern Region, at the main chapel of Wat Phra Chetuphon Wimon Mangkalaram Ratchaworamahawihan.
According to Thai News Agency, the ceremony saw the participation of Ms. Yupa Thawiwattanakitbaworn, Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office, along with close disciples and devotees. They gathered to offer their congratulations on this auspicious occasion. The event took place at Wat Phra Chetuphon Wimonmangkalaram Ratchaworamahawihan, located on Sanam Chai Road in Phra Nakhon District.
The day's activities began with Somdej Phra Maha Thira-chan overseeing the offering of breakfast and alms to monks and novices within the temple grounds. This was followed by a merit-making ceremony to honor the late King, as well as a dedication of merit to former abbots and ancestors. The ceremonies concluded with a celebration of Somdej Phra Maha Thira-chan's 89th birthday.
